The complete story of Rama from Valmiki’s Sanskrit, retold in simple Telugu, with the key shlokas in both Devanagari and Telugu script.
Most of us know the Ramayana from television, Harikatha and later retellings. This edition goes back to the source, the Valmiki Ramayana. It follows Valmiki’s own order of events and marks clearly which well-loved details come from him and which were added later.
Language: The story is in Telugu. Every shloka is printed in Devanagari and in Telugu script, so you can recite it even if you don’t read Devanagari, with a Telugu meaning (తాత్పర్యం) and an English meaning. Section titles are in Telugu and English.

Why this edition
- Every verse, number and event is checked against Valmiki’s Sanskrit text, and the Telugu has been proofread.
- Clear Telugu script that renders every conjunct correctly. Shlokas are printed in both scripts.
- “వాల్మీకి ఏమంటారు” notes cover details often told differently today. For example, there is no Lakshmana Rekha in Valmiki, and Shabari tasting each fruit is a later, much-loved addition.
- Honest and balanced about the Uttara Kanda and the most debated episodes.
- An evergreen edition, with no dates that go out of date.
